Un curioso portachiavi al mercatino online

A volte anche le nuove tecnologie si mettono di mezzo e senza neanche volerlo mi danno una mano a trovare piccole chicche della nostra storia.
Tempo fa misi un annuncio su un gruppo di facebook dicendo che cercavo e compravo materiale legato in qualche maniera alla nostra storia.
Mi scrive una signora dicendomi che aveva qualcosa da cedere.
Vado a trovarla e mi mostra delle foto con navi e fascisti del ventennio. Alcune firmate con dedica. Chiede 300 € per tutto il blocco, ma non essendo il mio settore e sapendo come il rischio di fregature in questo campo è altissimo, lascio perdere.
Me ne sto per andare e mi dice,:
 "Questo ti potrebbe interessare?"
tira fuori una specie di portachiavi tutto ossidato e malconcio.
Capisco subito dal materiale e dalla presenza di un marchio che almeno uno dei pezzi è argento e che non molti all'epoca si facevano fare un sigillo per cera lacca.
Il proprietario doveva per forza essere qualcuno che contava.
Contratto un po' e alla fine per una ventina di euro lo porto via.

Come sempre prima di andare avanti vi chiederei, dato che tutto quello che faccio è per passione, se poteste gentilmente fare qualche click sulle pubblicità a destra o sotto. Si aprirà una pagina di sponsor, a voi non costa niente e non ci sono virus essendo tutte pubblicità di google, poi potete richiuderla. Eccolo come si presentava appena arrivato a casa.

Ed eccolo dopo una veloce ripulita.

A questo punto iniziano le ricerche.
La signora mi aveva detto che era appartenuto ad un nobile ufficiale marinaio della zona di torino/monferrato e che l'aveva avuto tempo indietro assieme alle foto in cambio di un lavoro non pagato.
Purtroppo non ho molti dati e non so se crederle, gli unici indizi sono le iniziali sul fischietto e la data, il sigillo in lingua arabeggiante e il marchio sul sigillo liscio.

Il materiale è comunque buono e potrebbe supportare l'ipotesi dell'utilizzo in campo marinaro da parte di un ufficiale.

Dopo qualche giorno pubblico la foto su facebook del sigillo arabo, che è l'unico che potrebbe dirmi qualcosa in più e sicuramente non è viziato dalle mie idee. Purtroppo tutti i miei alunni/amici marocchini mi dicono che non è comunque una scrittura delle loro zone, sono solo in grado di dirmi che la parte in basso è una data, ma quello l'avevo quasi capito da solo.
Passa ancora qualche giorno ed ecco che un amico che sta facendo un corso di lingua araba, porta il sigillo a vedere al docente, il docente dice che è una scrittura mediorentale, iran, egitto, turchia o chissà ma che non gli ricorda nessuna parola araba.
Passa ancora un po' di tempo e il docente di arabo dice che un suo conoscente l'avrebbe tradotto in italiano con le parole Augusto Radiqato 1912. Logicamente non ha sicurezza del cognome, mentre sul nome non ha dubbi.

La cosa mi fa molto piacere anche perchè AR combacia con le iniziali del fischietto, che non gli avevo mostrato, quindi il cerchio si può dire abbastanza chiuso.

Il sigillo in argento, purtroppo liscio, non inciso, se avesse avuto lo stemma di famiglia ci avrebbe dato la prova del nove.

Il marchio dell'argentiere che dovrebbe essere "Miracoli" di Milano, come potete vedere da questo link dove si vede un libro di preghiere del 1910 con copertina in argento e stesso marchio.

Nessuno, però in breve scopro che esiste un Cavalier Augusto Radicati di Passeranno Marmorito che visse in un periodo compatibile con le date e l'età degli oggetti.
E' un nobile della famiglia Passeranno di Marmorito che dovrebbero essere conti.

L'Amerigo Vespucci, fu impostato il 12 maggio 1930 nel Regio Cantiere Navale di Castellamare di Stabia, fu varato il 22 febbraio 1931 ed entrò in servizio a luglio dello stesso anno. Il 4 luglio 1931, al comando del Capitano di Vascello Augusto Radicati di Marmorito, nobile piemontese (che, con il grado di Capitano di Fregata, era stato l'ultimo Comandante del precedente Amerigo Vespucci), partì per la sua prima Campagna Addestrativa in Nord Europa.

Con questa ricerca, tra l'altro ho avuto modo di scoprire che l'Amerigo Vespucci attuale era stato preceduto da un'altra nave scuola e che ebbe una gemella, la Cristoforo Colombo.
Nel 1949, a seguito delle clausole del trattato di pace firmato a Parigi, il Cristoforo Colombo fu ceduto all'Unione Sovietica che, con il nome di Dunay (Danubio) lo impiegò come Nave Scuola militare dalla base di Odessa in Mar Nero fino al 1959. Ceduto successivamente, pare, all'Istituto Nautico di Odessa, nel 1961 avrebbe dovuto essere sottoposto a estesi lavori di manutenzione, ma le autorità sovietiche decisero di radiarlo definitivamente (1963).

Se questo portachiavi sia appartenuto effettivamente al primo comandante dell'Amerigo Vespucci e come sia finito nelle mani di quella signora non lo sapremo mai però mi piace immaginare abbia girato il mondo in tempi lontani e che ora è nella mia piccola collezione.
Col senno di poi avrei dovuto prendere anche il plico di foto e non dividere la collezione, ma 300 € era davvero troppo e ne ho avuto anche la conferma da un collezionista di fotografie d'epoca.

Questa invece è una foto dell'Amerigo Vespucci scattata nel 1962 quando fu incrociata nel Mediterraneo dalla portaerei americana USS Independence. L'unità americana lampeggio il classico «Chi siete», a cui seguì la risposta «Nave scuola Amerigo Vespucci, Marina Militare Italiana». Immediata la replica «Siete la più bella nave del mondo».

Fix per risolvere il problema audio della Xiaomi Yi camera

Visto che oggi non ha ancora smesso di piovere mi sono deciso a seguire la video-guida che vi avevo postato alla fine di quest'articolo

per vedere se riuscivo a migliorare l'audio davvero penoso della Xiaomi Yi e eliminare il problema legato al brusio audio quando il wifi è acceso.

Direi che ci sono riuscito discretamente e che l'operazione è alla portata di tutti. Come sempre prima di andare avanti vi chiederei, dato che tutto quello che faccio è per passione, se poteste gentilmente fare qualche click sulle pubblicità a destra o sotto. Per prima cosa dovete munirvi di un set di cacciaviti da orologiaio, una lama e un pezzettino di scotch ora potete togliere dalla vostra videocamera scheda e batteria.

A questo punto procedete a rimuovere la protezione in plastica anteriore. E' sufficiente aiutarsi con una lama sottile o un pezzo di plastica rigido se avete paura di rovinarla. Procedete con cautela seguendo il bordo, non sarà difficile.
In breve riuscirete a staccare i vari incastri dividendo le due parti di plastica e mettendo a nudo la scheda elettronica interna della Xiaomi.

A questo punto dovete rimuovere le 4 viti poste negli angoli della camera, come vedete dalla foto sottostante su una vite è posto il sigillo di garanzia, logicamente la annullerete facendo queste manovre.

Una volta rimosse le viti potete iniziare a estrarre la parte elettronica facendo leva lateralmente, fate piano in modo da non strappare i connettori delle varie parti. Lavorate un po' da un lato e un po' dall'altro, pian piano verrà fuori tutta la circuiteria. L'unico pezzo che vi rimarrà attaccato alla plastica è il microfono. Fate attenzione a non strappare i due cavetti che lo collegano al resto della Xiaomi e con delicatezza rimuovete anchesso dalla sua sede in plastica.

Rimuovete la gomma che protegge lateralmente il microfono e togliete la protezione nera rivolta verso l'esterno della camera.

Ora il microfono è libero e riuscirà a captare meglio i suoni che gli arrivano dall'esterno. Visto che c'ero ho anche allargato leggermente il foro nella plastica.
A questo punto potete rimontare tutta la parte elettronica all'interno del case in plastica. Prima di chiudere il coperchio vi suggerirei di risolvere anche il problema dell'audio legato al wifi acceso. Se la vostra camera presenta quel fastidioso brusio durante le registrazione fatte col wifi acceso procedete come segue.
Quando avete rimontato tutta la parte elettronica prendete il coperchio frontale ed individuate l'antenna nera situata in basso.

Noterete che se chiudete il frontale va a fare contatto con una specie di spillo che esce dalla circuiteria. La Xiaomi funziona bene anche senza quest'antenna, quindi basta isolarla dal circuito per rimuovere i disturbi audio causati dalla stessa.
Per far ciò ritagliatevi un pezzo di scotch o nastro adesivo e incollatelo nel punto di contatto.

A questo punto richiudete il tutto e controllate che tutto funzioni.

Sotto due video fatti alla tv dalla stessa distanza di circa 50 cm con audio degli altoparlanti prima a 25 e poi a 30. Guardateveli e sentite la differenza tra il prima e il dopo della modifica. Scusatemi per il programma ma quello passava il convento... :-)

Prova test video handycam Xiaomi Yi

Volevo condividere con voi che seguite storieefoto alcune impressioni sulla piccola ed economica handycam di Xiaomi. La Yi.
Sicuramente è una delle piccole telecamere oggi in commercio che ha il migliore rapporto qualità prezzo.
Si trova comunemente in commercio intorno al centinaio di euro a seconda del kit che prendete.
La confezione che vi arriva a casa è molto curata e di design non sembra una cineseria. La mia appena sballata si presentava così.

Come potete vedere è presente anche un braccio telescopico portatile che potete usare per farvi gli ormai irrinunciabili selfie.

Ma ora veniamo ai test e alle impressioni.

Prima di andare avanti vi chiederei, dato che tutto quello che faccio è per passione, se poteste gentilmente fare qualche click sulle pubblicità a destra o sotto. Si aprirà una pagina di sponsor, a voi non costa niente e non ci sono virus essendo tutte pubblicità di google, poi potete richiuderla. Per prima cosa vi parlerei della camera. E' davvero piccola e usandola con una mano si corre il rischio di mettere il dito nei paraggi dell'obiettivo, dato il forte grandangolo poi si noterà l'ombra nell'immagine, quindi state attenti.

Si fa tutto tramite tre tasti. Uno frontale vicino all'obiettivo, un altro messo in alto e un terzo sul fianco, Non ha nessun genere di display, se abbiamo bisogno di visualizzare cosa abbiamo fatto o impostare i parametri dobbiamo collegarla tramite il wi-fi ad uno smartphone con l'apposita applicazione installata Yi Camera scaricabile sul sito del produttore. 
Tornando ai tasti, quello frontale vi permette di accendere e spegnere la macchinetta e di passare dalla funzione foto alla funzione video semplicemente premendolo. Intorno a questo tasto è presente un led che oltre segnalarvi lo stato della macchina vi da anche un'indicazione del livello di carica della batteria, infatti all'inizio il colore è blu e pian piano diventa rosso.

Il pulsante in alto come in qualsiasi macchina fotografica serve a scattare o a iniziare la ripresa video. L'avvenuta foto o inizio ripresa vi viene segnato tramite un bip. 

Il pulsante laterale infine ha il simbolo del wi-fi vicino ed infatti serve ad accendere e spegnere la connessione della camera. State attenti a non dimenticarvelo acceso perchè oltre a consumarvi la batteria in pochissimo tempo vi disturberà l'audio nelle riprese.

Ora vorrei parlarvi un po' delle qualità delle immagini e della gestione dal lato app della camera, per prima cosa però, vi suggerirei di aggiornare il firmware della xiaomi yi perchè potrebbe capitare, come è successo a me, che quello installato di serie sia uno delle prime versioni che aveva non pochi problemi specialmente per quanto riguarda la gestione audio.

Per aggiornare il firmware per prima cosa dovete scaricarvi la versione più aggiornata dal sito

Dovrete inserire le prime cifre del seriale della vostra camera e in automatico potrete scaricare il firmware più aggiornato.

Partirà il download di un file con estensione .bin.

Una volta scaricato vi basterà rinominarlo in firmware.bin e salvarlo nella radice (root) della micro sd che usate normalmente.

A questo punto assicuratevi di avere la batteria della camera carica, inserite la micro sd e accendete la Yi. 

Il led rosso inizierà a lampeggiare e la piccola Xiaomi emetterà un segnale acustico ripetitivo, lasciatela lavorare senza toccare nulla fino a quando non si spegnerà in automatico. 

A questo punto rimuovete la memory card ed eliminate il file di aggiornamento, ora potete riutilizzare la vostra Xiaomi Yi col firmware aggiornato.

Ora inizierei con qualche foto, da app si può impostare la camera per scattare immagini a bassa, media ed alta qualità, andando da una risoluzione minima di 5 Mpx ad un massimo di 16 Mpx, non esistono file raw ma solo jpg.

Si può poi andare a decidere se aggiungere su ogni foto la data, l'ora e il meteo se connessi ad uno smartphone.

Una funzione che potrebbe tornare utile è la riduzione dell'effetto occhio di pesce dovuto al grandangolo, a costo di un leggero ritaglio dell'immagine (lens rectification).

Questa la schermata iniziale della vista da app su android.

Questa è una fotografia a 16 Mpx fatta in casa con solo il lampadario acceso quindi in scarsa illuminazione. Quella sotto è un crop al 100 %. Logicamente il rumore e la qualità d'immagine non è moltissima ma ricordiamoci che non è nata per fare foto.

Questa invece in condizioni di luce un po' migliori.

Per quanto riguarda i video si può andare a impostare la risoluzione partendo da un 480 Pixel a 240 fotogrammi al secondo utile per rallenty esagerati fino ad arrivare alla 2K (2304x1296) a 30 fotogrammi al secondo.

Io normalmente utilizzo il full Hd da 1080 P (1920x1080) a 60 fotogrammi al secondo un buon compromesso, il video non diventa pesantissimo e permette di fare anche qualche piccola ripresa al rallenty.

Sono poi possibili impostazioni preimpostate per ottenere timelapse sia come una serie di fotografie scattate a intervalli preimpostati che poi monteremo a mano in un video sia come video creato in automatico dalla macchina.

Qui trovate alcuni miei video che ho fatto durante il mio viaggio di nozze in Sud Africa. Sono tutti a 1080 P 60 fps. Ho applicato la stabilizzazione delle immagini automatica di youtube che crea alcuni artefatti. Li vedrete meglio se andate su youtube, ricordatevi di impostare la massima risoluzione se il vostro pc lo permette.

Qui invece vi metto alcuni video senza nessuna correzione di youtube.

Il primo girato in casa con una piccola luce accesa, l'immagine è discreta l'audio penoso e si sente il fruscio dovuto al fatto di avere il wifi acceso.

Questo potete rallentarlo perchè è girato a 480 P con 240 fps quindi si può ridotto di circa 10 volte.

Questo alla massima risoluzione resa disponibile con l'aggiornamento all'ultimo firmware.

Infine lo stesso video girato alla mia risoluzione abituale, 1080P a 60 fps, anche questo senza nessuna correzione di youtube. Ho fatto un piccolo saluto alla fine giudicate voi se l'audio passa la sufficienza.

Conclusioni e considerazioni personali. Quando l'ho sballata mi ha dato subito una bella impressione come cura dei dettagli e della confezione, quando poi ho provato a fare le prime foto e i primi video stavo per rimandarla indietro, c'era una macchia sul sensore in alto a sinistra molto evidente in tutte le condizioni. Purtroppo mi è arrivata il giorno prima della partenza del viaggio in Africa così ho rimandato. Arrivato a Johannesburg, dopo i primi video, la macchia è sparita, non chiedetemi il perché. La qualità video è molto buona se paragonata anche ad altre handycam di fascia molto più alta.

L'unico problema rimasto è la qualità audio che è davvero penosa. In internet si trovano guide per cercare di migliorarlo, una soluzione è quella di togliere uno strato di spugna o gomma piuma presente sul microfono, ad oggi non ho ancora provato perchè bisogna smontare in toto la piccola camera.

Altro problema che riguarda l'audio è che se si dimentica accesa la connessione wi-fi durante la ripresa di un video si sente un brusio di sottofondo. Anche qui esistono in internet guide per risolvere il problema. E' anche vero che questo genere di videocamere nascono per essere chiuse dentro una custodia e quindi l'audio viene quasi sempre escluso in fase di montaggio.

In conclusione se volete un buon compromesso tra qualità e prezzo accontentandovi un pochino sul lato audio non ci sono altre macchine che riescano a tenere il passo.

You can then go and decide whether to add on each picture the date, time and weather when connected to a smartphone.
A feature that could come in handy is the reduction of the fish eye due to the wide angle, at the cost of a slight cropping of the image (lens rectification).

This is a snapshot 16-megapixel done indoors in the house with only the domestic light then lit in low light. Below is a crop to 100%. Logically, the noise and the image quality is not a lot but remember that is not set up to take pictures.

This however in light conditions a bit best.
If we talk about videos you can go to set the resolution from a 480 pixel at 240 frames per second slow motion useful for up to the 2K (2304x1296) at 30 frames per second.
I normally use the full HD 1080 P (1920x1080) at 60 frames per second a good compromise, the video does not become heavy and allows you to make some small recovery in slow motion.
It is also possible preset settings to get timelapse either as a series of photographs taken at preset intervals and then we mount by hand in a video both as video created automatically by the machine.

The first shot in the house with a small light on, the picture is fairly the painful sound and you hear the rustle due to the fact of having the WiFi switched on.

Conclusions and personal considerations. If you still want to find a small defect to the Xiaomi Yi is the limited availability of options such as hermetic enclosures, brackets to mount it on helmets or hulls etc etc ... I still I have taken a 15 € on ebay and to date has not been damage.

Restauro fiasca porta polvere da sparo per armi ad avancarica e oggetti in lamiera di rame

Ciao a tutti, è da un po' che non pubblico più nulla, ma sto attraversando un periodo non proprio facile quindi il tempo per dedicarmi agli hobby è sempre pochissimo.
Poco tempo fa mi sono finiti tra le mani i resti di una fiasca porta polvere da sparo usata un tempo per caricare le armi ad avancarica prima di ogni tiro.
Chissà per quale motivo era stata schiacciata e avevano provato a tagliarne una fetta sul fondo come si vedrà dalle foto sotto. Probabilmente volevano trasformarla in una specie di imbuto visto che anche il beccuccio era appiattito.

Prima di andare avanti vi chiederei, dato che tutto quello che faccio è per passione, se poteste gentilmente fare un click sulle pubblicità a destra. Si aprirà una pagina di sponsor, a voi non costa niente e non ci sono virus essendo tutte pubblicità di google, poi potete richiuderla. In tasca mi viene qualche centesimo e mi copre quelle poche spese di dominio e sito internet. Grazie mille davvero.

Purtroppo era davvero mal messa e quindi ho tentato un ripristino, cercando di fare una riparazione come avrebbero potuto fare all'epoca in cui era in uso la fiasca. Forse, dal punto di vista estetico, avrei avuto risultati migliori con resine composite o cose simili, ma ho deciso che avrebbe avuto più senso storico la mia scelta.
Mi sono quindi deciso ad operare una saldatura a stagno tra le parti rimaste che, una volta raddrizzate, con mia grande sorpresa combaciavano abbastanza bene.
Per ridare una curvatura accettabile alla fiasca ho lavorato dall'interno con un lungo pezzo di legno robusto con cui cercavo di fare leva sulla lamiera.
Non è stato semplice ma alla fine mi reputo soddisfatto del lavoro.
Per poter far si che la saldatura tenesse ho dovuto prima disossidare le parti con acido solforico e spazzolare bene il tutto portando a nudo il metallo.
Per questo motivo alla fine ho deciso di riportare tutta la fiasca sul metallo come doveva essere quando era nuova se no la parte saldata sarebbe stata un pugno in un occhio, il rame ossida in fretta e nel giro di qualche anno sarà di nuovo scura come quando l'ho trovata.
Veniamo ora a qualche foto delle varie fasi di lavorazione.
Ecco lo stato in cui è uscita dagli scaffali, completamente appiattita e rovinata in fondo.

Sono evidenti i segni di taglio

Per prima cosa ho smontato il tappo e ho messo le parti in ferro molto consumate a bagno in evaporust visto che non volevo rischiare di comprometterne la funzionalità. Fortunatamente la vite è venuta via bene.

Ho poi cercato di raddrizzare i pezzi tagliati e accartocciati e ho iniziato la saldatura. Non è stato facile, perchè, seppur combaciavano abbastanza, c'erano comunque delle mancanze e la lamiera vecchia tendeva a spaccarsi quando si cercava di raddrizzarla.

In prima battuta non mi sono preoccupato di quanto stagno usavo e di quanto era bella la saldatura tanto avrei grattato via il surplus in seguito.

Ed ecco le saldature finite, come si nota bene da quella di sinistra, una volta finite le ho lisciate con una lima e ripassando la fiamma sopra le ho rese meno fastidiose.

Guardate dopo solo due mesi come si è già scurita.

Unfortunately it was very drafty and so I tried a restore, trying to make a repair as they could have done at the time when it was in use. Perhaps, from an aesthetic point of view, I would have had better results with composite resins or the like, but I decided I would have had more historical sense my choice.

I therefore decided to make a soldering between the remaining parties that straight, to my surprise matched pretty well.
