Panorama Val Stura

And with this shot achieved by combining 5 photos captured with my samsung wonder I throw myself behind this 2012. Hoping that 2013 is a tad Your Best. The picture is not great but I liked the view from that point, I will a bit 'better equipped ...

We are in Stura Valley of  Demonte, just above Madonna del Pino, everything to the left is the hill of Festiona, on the right the valley very slowly climbs towards the Colle della Maddalena.

Tramonto 21/12/2012

And this long-awaited winter solstice is gone, the world has not ended, it was obvious, but many people believed this prophecy Maya invented by the media.

On the other hand gave me a beautiful sunset during the making of this work http://storieefoto.blogspot.it/2012/12/solstizio-dinverno-21122012.html

He had to end the world, wake up early to go on the hill near Briaglia that the day before I had identified. At that point the view is spectacular and the Bisalta backdrop to the ancient village of Mondovi Square.
I watched the sun illuminate the first Bric Costa Rossa then the tip of Besimauda and gradually the entire ridge. The ground was hard, the grass covered by a thin layer of frost. I photographed. My hands were almost unaffected by the temperature.
I thought I had finished my morning shots, I imagined already the case for shooting at dusk and I was removing my manfrotto when I noticed the curious play of light.
Mondovì Square is lit while the slopes of Besimauda, which are the background, they are still in the dark. A click on the fly, this is the result.

A few days ago I was casually on the pot overlooking mondovì, a small town in northern Italy.
I was there to photograph the international gathering of hot air balloons that takes place every year.
The situation gave me an opportunity to remember a famous feat of arms, unique in history.
When Napoleon Bonaparte arrived in Italy in 1796 is on its way the "Dragons Her Majesty" under the command of Colonel de Oncieux Chaffardon. Near Mondovi April 21 the French cavalry, led by General Stengel is rejected and defeated by the Dragoons in retreat. Stengel falls mortally wounded. The king pin is on the Banner of the Regiment two Gold Medals, believing that "one is not enough to reward so much value."

This is a comparison between a vintage print of Bagetti and the situation today that I made a few years ago.

This is what the Piedmontese troops saw.  (union of three frames in photoshop Canon 40d + Tamron 17-50 f2.8).

Looking towards Mondovi you can see the ancient walls of the citadel and the Monviso as background.

Restauro fodero baionetta italiana prima guerra mondiale

When the job is finished you cover the joints, which will certainly not perfect, with rusty iron powder. To create this powder just stepping between two sheets of an old rusting sheet metal or the flakes that are detached during the first cleaning step.

Una leggera lucidata col dremel.

A light brushing with the dremel.

And finally brushed with OWATROL or fidoil, the photo does not do justice, it is actually less shiny.

Ed ecco il lavoro finito.

And here is the finished work.

Solstizio d'inverno 21/12/2012

In primo piano Mondovì Piazza.

Rising and setting of 21.12.2012 (supposed to end the world) on Bisalta Besimauda or, if you prefer.
These days it is the first mountain to be lit in the morning and in the evening the sun goes into hiding behind its slopes.
In fact Bisalta is the name of the ridge, the Bric Costa Rossa on the left in the photo on the right to Bisalta.
Featured Mondovì Piazza.
This mountain is always "sacred" for the people of our region. They tell stories of sightings light, ufo, balls of light, strange concentrations of lightning, in 900 there were even research of uranium.
According to legend the top of the mountain should bifida its conformation to an intervention of the devil.
A mountaineer climbed with difficulty, not least because of the wine drunk the night before, along its paths.
When the moon set behind the profile of Besimauda (Bisalta) the pace of 'man became really difficult: rocks, roots, potholes and bumps of all kinds every step turned into a torment.
It was then that the devil appeared to him in exchange for his soul, gave him a little 'moonlight.
The poor man agreed.
Soon an army of little demons cut out of the mountain rock that obscured the moon.
When the devil appeared to mountaineer the deed of sale of his soul, the light of the moon lit up the sign with which the wretch had signed a contract: it was a cross, which had no legal value to the Underworld!
The poor man had never learned to write.
His soul was saved.
L 'only at the expense was the mountain, and from that day he appeared with a high-top, that is twice as high. "
Surely its charm still has it, for the ancients must have had something divine, that's for sure ...

Ciao a tutti.

Hello everyone, this is the first blog post Stories & Photos, my name is Claudio G, I live in the province of Cuneo and are passionate about local history, photography, computer and electronics.
In this blog we will talk about prncipalmente of these topics, from the story of simple stories to the restoration of small OBJECTS.
I hope to please share what little I know.
I started to photograph several years ago with a Nikon F5 borrowed from my local photo retailer that also taught me the basics of photography.
Then I had a F65 that still sometimes use, I know it is not some kind of machine, but it allowed me to learn a lot.
I then decided to take the plunge to digital and bought a D80 in 2007, spectacular.
In 2009 I made another big step, I switched to Canon, for the simple reason that Nikon have ottiiche prices a bit 'crazy if they are taken Nital Italy. I got a 40D with a Tamron 17-50 f 2.8, a really good optics. Soon after came the Sigma 180 Macro and Canon 100-400 L IS. This year I got a Canon 50 f 1.8 a few € and I got the Sigma 12-24, but this view is promising considering that I'm using it on a full frame sensor.
In the last year I took a lot with my Samsung gGalaxy Wonder, only 5 megapixel, but you want to put the convenience of having always at hand and then to the views that's fine.
I know that digital photography can not exist without editing but should not be a reversal.
In 2009, we founded the photographic association Mondovì Photo of the site which I take care www.mondoviphoto.com
Hello to all.
