Un'antica impronta al Belvedere

Fila!!!

Grazie mille davvero.

La Torre Civica del Belvedere

Row!!! Go away!!! Pinin screams in Dic, a brown and white mongrel. Pinin is a boy in his twenties, the right age do not even know him, at that time is not used to count the years.

Unfortunately is the last of 11 brothers and his family does not have enough land to work and cultivate, so it had to go to town to make a living. It comes from Roburento, a small town in mid-mountain in the southern Piedmont.

In the mountain villages in the people suffer hunger if the harvest is not good, the chestnuts have not yet arrived, and even potatoes or corn, only a few centuries will be imported. Any diet is based on poor cereals and robust as rye and buckwheat, fruits and vegetables. Fortunately the river from which the town takes its name, Roburentello, is rich in trout and crayfish, venison is not lacking, but at this time we are afraid to wander too long in the woods, there are Masche and only name them it can lead to problems.

Pinin is a cute boy perhaps the monotony of work it is a bit 'disturbing, sometimes it seems to head elsewhere. Probably he thinks about his mountain, his 7 brothers and 3 sisters and mothers. With dad does not have a great relationship, it is very gruff, but he wants a lot of good. At that time the family is based on a strictly patriarchal system, therefore men should behave as hard and show affection to their children is not something well seen. Indeed, it is believed even hurt to offspring.

Its takes twelve to fourteen hours a day job, must turn over the bricks on the large open space adjacent to the oven to dry them in the sun. Once dry will have to stack them in the oven, taking care to leave the right space between a row and the other so that heat can wrap them in a uniform manner. If the bricks are not dry at the right point, the heat will dilate the excess water in them and the bricks will come out broken, he did not receive the pay of the week. Dic is small in size and has humble origins but it has a remarkable intelligence and curiosity.

Always the dog lives in the area of brick kiln, maybe he goes to sleep somewhere close to Cascinotta Bricchetto which also steals a brand of bread, but for the rest of the time is always around. Begging for a bit 'of food to everyone he meets, and the furnace knows the schedules of several employees. I have even seen once commissioning Sant'Andrea in Mondovi square. And 'the church placed on them by the highest of the city, you can see the point the whole plain to the Monviso, when the sky is clear you can also see the Mont Blanc and Monte Rosa. The church is beautiful, has a Latin cross with three naves. Unfortunately for centuries to come will be abandoned and gradually dismantled so that the inhabitants of the Belvedere hill will move down the plane that will take the name of Carassone, resist rather its bell tower that for all monregalesi is the Torre del Belvedere Civic.

We're riding between 1200 and 1300, in the small town of Mondovi you're building a majestic bell tower to the church of Sant'Andrea which currently has one too small to be seen and heard by all the people who work in the hills surrounding. Since you've ever seen in these parts will be the largest all brick kilns are producing tirelessly to meet the demand. Especially that which for convenience will produce the most is where they work Dic and Pinin.

Pinin sometimes hates the mischievous little dog, every time he puts the bricks in the sun, while they are still soft in the middle there running around, more often avoids them it seems that games there, but sometimes a paw and drops and remains the imprint. For heaven's sake nothing serious, but if the owner realizes it Pinin will spend a bad half hour, this was now the bricks can not be reshaped so if the brick is not wrong will be cooked with the imprint of Dic.

The brick is baked and sold the factory that is building the tower, Dic Pinin and will never see again and you will miss the traces. Perhaps the shift worker unwrapped it not judging it suitable for the construction of the Belvedere and put it between the recycled materials. Some time later another worker, sick of seeing a hole in the wall that led to the construction site, used it to repair it.

And so in 700 years along the road leading to the Belvedere, even today, set into a wall, there is a brick with the imprint of Dic. It will only be a short story invented a winter evening, but sometimes a small mark from the past can make us live a few carefree minutes. Hoping not to have bored you too here is the imprint.
